ACROSS Project Secures Institutional Support to Advance Affordable Cardiac Rehabilitation

The meeting for the NIHR-funded ACROSS (Affordable Cardiac Rehabilitation: An Outreach Inter-disciplinary Strategic Study) project was attended by Prof. Bilal S. Mohyuddin (Executive Director, Punjab Institute of Cardiology), Prof. Imran Chaudhry (HOD Psychiatry, Ziauddin University), and Dr. Tayyeba Kiran (Assistant Director, PILL). ACROSS is designed to develop a culturally adapted, affordable, home-based cardiac rehabilitation programme for individuals living with multiple long-term health conditions, including heart disease and co-existing anxiety or depression. The project will assess the programme’s acceptability, clinical effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness, with the overarching aim of establishing its scalability and sustainability in low-resource settings. Prof. Bilal S. Mohyuddin expressed his full support and granted PILL permission to commence work immediately in parallel with the ethics approval process, marking a significant milestone in advancing this collaborative initiative.
