
Field Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Field Coordinator (FC) role ensures smooth day to day data collection and field operations within the research project. The FC will support and facilitate the RAs in collecting data within the community settings. The FC will lead and manage all logistics, community engagement, and day to day coordination needed for data collection. The FC will help liaising with the health systems (eg LHWs) and other local stakeholders to help identify, locate, access and set a date and time for the RAs to conduct interviews of participants (including women, children and men etc). The FCs role is to ensure that the study participants are informed in advance and are primed prior to their actual interview and participation in the study. The FC will report directly to the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategies for establishing and maintaining community networks.
- Oversee and supervise introducing the organization, projects, nature of activities and research staff.
- Actively problem-solve to ensure smooth field activities and the safety of the research staff visiting the field in consultation with the project manager.
- Identifying and engaging with pertinent community stakeholders including health system professionals, community elders, and the project-related target population.
- Coordinating with the data and logistics team to ensure smooth and timely conduct of field activities, especially participant interviews.
- Responding to FAQs from the communities – in consultation with senior research staff .
- Upholding the field SoPs, code of conduct developed by the organization, at all the times.
- Maintain database and spreadsheets of various types of information (e.g., names of LHWs, contact numbers, account details, participant information, etc.).
- Oversee the disbursement of study participants’ token gifts for their time in research, as well as any LHW allowances for identifying and providing access to participants within the field.
- Ensure the research staff within the study area is facilitated and supported on a day-to-day basis.
- Perform any other duty relevant to the study as assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualification, Experience, and Skills:
- No specific qualifications/educational background is required for this post. As long as the individual can read, write, and maintain files.
- At least 3 years of experience in field coordination for international collaborative research projects.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience of working within longitudinal studies where the same participants are followed up multiple times.
- Strong organizational and field leadership skills.
- Ability to work in remote or challenging environments.
- Excellent planning skills to ensure field operations and interviews are conducted efficiently within community settings spanning over large geographical areas.
