Assistant Logistics Officer

Job Summary:

The Assistant Logistics Officer (ALO) will provide administrative and operational support to the project logistics officer to ensure the research projects are run smoothly. The ALO will assist and support all aspects of the project logistic officer and will assist in supporting all field activities, manage documentation, and ensure smooth day-to-day logistics operations. This position will report directly to the Project Logistics Officer (PLO).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the PLO in maintaining the office space, rental agreements, etc.
  • Assist in coordinating the field operations, procurement, and inventory tracking.
  • Assist PLO in day-to-day field logistics, travel arrangements for field staff.
  • Help in organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Support in coordinating with health systems and setting up the teams within the field.
  • Liaise with field teams and coordinators and support them within the field.
  • Maintain logistics documentation, procurement, office stationery, gadgets, etc.
  • Coordinate delivery and distribution of research supplies/materials/incentives.
  • Communicate with vendors and service providers.
  • Any other task assigned by the Project Manager and/or PI.
  • Line management will be the Project Manager.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

  • No specific level of educational or qualification background is required for this position. An excellent ability to foresee, plan, and execute all logistical aspects for the research programme is the requirement for this position. Having a diploma/certificate in computer software (Microsoft Office, etc will be a preferred background qualification.
  • At least one year or more of experience in logistics or administrative support in any research organization.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working in complex internationally funded programs and interfacing with health systems and especially the district-level primary care facilities.
  • Strong inventory maintaining skills.
  • Experience of organizing day-to-day field activities and interviews.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency and computer skills.
  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and work ethics.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote or field environments.
