NIHR BURNS Rehabilitation Project Secures Major Collaboration with Pakistan Burn Association at BURNCON 2025

Mr. Ameer Bux, Associate Project Director of the BURNS Rehabilitation Project (NIHR20082), presented at the BURNCON 3rd International Conference, hosted by King Edward Medical University, Lahore.
During the conference, the project team engaged with the Pakistan Burn Association (PBA) to discuss strategies for sustaining and scaling the intervention developed under Work Package-3 which includes Psychological, Emergency Care, Rehabilitation, Critical Care, Infection Prevention and Control bundles.
The Pakistan Burn Association expressed strong support and agreed to collaborate on the following activities:
• Training of Master Trainers: PBA agreed and asked PILL team to train master trainers from across Burn Centres in the intervention package during the 4th International BURNCON in Rawalpindi.
• Institutional Rollout: PBA will support the institutional rollout of the intervention package across all burn centres post-project funding, with a focus on training existing Nurses, Psychologists, Physiotherapists in the intervention who are part of care team in burn centres.
• Integration into Nurse Induction Programs: PBA will work with PILL to explore adding the training program into the induction of nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists who wish to join burn centres.
