Position: Data Manager
Job Summary:
The Data Manager will play a central role in ensuring the accuracy, security, and usability of all data collected in the project. This position involves designing and maintaining databases, overseeing data collection processes, and implementing rigorous quality control measures. The Data Manager will collaborate closely with researchers, and statisticians of the project to provide clean, analysis-ready datasets along with some basic tools applied on the data when and where needed that support evidence-based insights into mental health outcomes. The data manager will directly report to the Project Manager of the research project.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and maintain secure resources related to the research projects (e.g. databases, data dictionaries etc.) by ensuring compatibility with statistical software and research protocols.
- Maintain and ensure the error-free data entry, data cleaning, quality checks (data consistency and quality checks for errors in data entry, checking inter-rater for assessors etc.).
- Develop and maintain research databases on cloud server for online and hard data (for both qualitative and quantitative data) and download the data from server on regular basis.
- Conduct regular data quality checks to identify and resolve data discrepancies and problems and document all corrections and maintain audit trails.
- Develop and maintain the data safety protocols and SOPs, enforce strict data privacy standards and ensure compliance with IRB and ethical guidelines.
- Train research staff on data management protocols and tools.
- Ensure the data safety and confidentiality by keeping the online data in a password protected computer and hard data in locked cabinet and no access given to any team member other than Project Managers and Principal Investigators.
- Organize and maintain data inventories and filing of the hard data.
- Generate the updated data sheets and handover to Field Coordination teams for arranging interviews in the field on monthly basis.
- Work closely with Project Manager, Principal Investigators and Statisticians to prepare analysis-ready datasets, tables and figures for publications.
- Support grant reporting and manuscript preparation.
- Assist senior team members in communicating with the international teams including responding to the queries and questions they may arise, along with all the above mentioned tasks.
- Perform any other task that may be assigned by the line managers and/or by the senior team members.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- MS/MPhil in Statistics.
- Minimum 5 years of experience of data management and statistical analysis in longitudinal Cohort Studies and cluster Randomized Control Trials (cRCTs).
- Proficient in statistical software (R, SPSS, Stata, Python, Tableau, SAS).
- Experience with database systems (ODK, SQL, Excel, Access, REDCap) and familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Strong background in overseeing complex data workflows and bridging database structures with field-based data collection.
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
