Awareness on Breast Cancer & recruitment of the Champions session held in Watan Health Institute Peshawar

Under the Moving On ABC Project (NIHR-205561), as part of the Defeat Cancer Campaign, an awareness and capacity-building session was held at BHU Urmar Payeen, Peshawar, for Lady Health Workers (LHWs) and Lady Health Visitors (LHVs).The session highlighted the project’s objectives and the crucial role of female health workers in community-based cancer awareness, early detection, and referral.
50 health workers participated in practical training on Breast Self-Examination (BSE) led by Dr. Ayesha, preparing them to educate women at the household level and conduct door-to-door outreach.
The initiative resulted in the identification of 09 confirmed breast cancer cases and 2 women with early warning signs, all referred promptly for further evaluation.
This activity reinforces early detection and referral pathways while emphasizing the indispensable role of female health workers in community-led cancer prevention.
