Karachi World Mental Health Observed With Collaboration Of SUIT
As part of World Mental Health Day 2026 awareness activities, an awareness session on cardiac health and associated mental health challenges was conducted for final-year students at the School of Nursing, Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT).
The session was facilitated by Ms. Sehrish Tofique, who highlighted the important connection between physical and mental health, with a focus on understanding the psychological impact of cardiac conditions and the importance of holistic, patient-centred care.
The session also included a brief introduction to the ongoing ACROSS Project (NIHR205540), which aims to improve access to affordable, home-based cardiac rehabilitation. Students were also introduced to the Moving on ABC programme (NIHR205561), with discussion around the importance of recognising and addressing mental health needs alongside physical health conditions.
The session provided an opportunity for future healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge and awareness of the emotional and psychological needs of individuals living with cardiac conditions, reinforcing the importance of integrating mental and physical health in patient care.
“Healthy hearts and healthy minds go hand in hand”.
